Discover the fate of the original black Magician, Pug, as prophecy becomes truth in the last book of the Riftwar Cycle.
THE FINAL VOLUME IN THE EPIC RIFTWAR CYCLE.
The dragons are calling..
Civil war is tearing apart the Kingdom of the Isles, for the throne lies empty and rivals are converging. Having spirited his beloved Princess Stephane safely out of Roldem, Hal - now Duke of Crydee - must turn his attention to the defence of the ancient realm so that a king can be anointed by the Congress of Lords, rather than by right of might.
But the greatest threat may well lie out of the hands of men. Somewhere in the Grey Towers Mountains something not of this world is emerging. It will require that alliances be made between mortal enemies if disaster is to be averted.
Elves and men must stand together, ancient heroes must rise again, dragons must fly and Pug, Magnus and the other magic-users of Midkemia must be prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice if the whole world is to be saved.

For those not familiar with Raymond E Feist’s Riftwar Cycle, Prince of Blood is the 8th book in a fantasy series of 30 or so. I have read all of the books of the cycle at some point in my HS and college years and was just now getting to listen to them on audible. The first five books are read by Nicholas Guy Smith, who has done a fantastic job narrating. There is a part in the the first book where two main characters sit with a dragon as he quickly succumbs too old age. NGS should have won a gold medal for the emotion he pulled out of the book narrating the dragon and the other two characters. I fkn cried like a baby.
Needless to say I was hooked.
Then I got to Prince of Blood and this garbage narration by Peter Joyce.
The cadence of his narration and his gruff heavily accented voice makes his narration hard to follow.
His male actors have little to no variation. One of the characters, an old magician named Kulgan, even had a clear description of his voice detailed by Feist in the first book. NGS nailed it sounding like your gentle but stern grandfather while Peter Joyce sounded like a constipated chain smoker.
Probably my biggest aggravation with the narration is Peter Joyce pronunciation of various names in the book. Right out of the gate, 15 minutes in he mispronounces the name wrong of one of the series main characters, Arutha. A-Ruth-a. Not that hard, NGS got it right for 5 straight books. Then this clown comes in and starts pronouncing it A-RooT-ah. The first time I heard it I had to stop the recording and replay it. It was blood curdling painful to hear. Then I had to hear it a hundred times over the next two hours of audio.

Sometimes I caught myself yelling at Joyce through my dashboard.

The only thing that pulled me though on this audiobook was the story, which was excellent.
Civ 5 vox populi multiplayer. TLDR: Peter Joyce is atrocious.
